 San Diego Cruise

 Wednesday, August 23rd – Sunday, August 27, 2017

We had a BLAST on this Cruise two years ago. What a fantastic destination!

This year, we plan to stop in Mission Bay for a few days, on our way to San Diego.

WEDNESDAY:

Depart Newport Beach at 7:00 am and head to Mission Bay. Anchor in front of Mission Bay Yacht Club. Launch the dinghies and settle in. Cocktails on the boats. Dinner on shore, possibly at MBYC or we’ll Uber to a restaurant in Pacific Beach.

THURSDAY:

Hang out in Mission Bay. We could organize a Bus or Uber to La Jolla. We could go to Del Mar for a day at the races. The girls could play cards and the guys could take the dinghies for a pub-crawl. Basically, an open day. For dinner, we could do the opposite of Wednesday night, either dinner at MBYC or at a restaurant in PB.

FRIDAY:

Weight Anchor at 7:00 am and head to San Diego. Anchor in La Playa Cove (permit required, see below). Hang out on the boats. Enjoy San Diego harbor. We may have cocktails on the boats, or organize a cocktail party at SDYC. For Dinner, we’ll all Uber to a fun Italian restaurant in Little Italy.

SATURDAY:

Late morning we’ll take the dinghies and cruise the Harbor to our lunch spot. We may end up at the Marriott, IL Fornaio, or Hotel Del Coronado; or some other hot spot someone suggests. At 5:00 pm we’ll Uber to the Gas Lamp District for cocktails, dinner and who knows, dancing.

SUNDAY:

Weigh Anchor at 7:00 am and head home. If some boats want to stay Sunday, I’m game to stay and head home Monday morning.

The beauty of this Cruise is that Members can join the Fleet anywhere along the route, depending on their individual schedules.

Please register for this Event, by emailing Ken Crume at [email protected]

TO OBTAIN A PERMIT TO ANCHOR IN LA PLAYA COVE, do the following:

Go to: reservations.portofsandiego.org/boating

Click on the “Anchorages” Tab

Select La Playa Cove

I reserved 3 nights (8/25, 8/26, & 8/27) just to be safe. In case I want to stay Sunday night

Be sure to Click on “Check Out”. This will take you to a page where you will need to input information about you and your boat.

Once you have completed this information, again select “Check Out”. This will take you to a page that says, “Thank You, your reservation is Complete” and give you a Confirmation number. Don’t stop until you see this page, and then print it. Have it with you on board when you arrive in La Playa Cove, in case the Harbor Patrol comes by.

When I made my reservation, there were still 38 spots available. DO NOT PUT THIS OFF. In prime time, these spots go quickly.

Please check the Club’s website from time to time for updates, as the Event approaches.
