Junior Sailing

We welcome you and your children to the proud sailing tradition of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club Non-Calm Program. This program has accurately earned the reputation as one of the most outstanding youth sailing programs in the country due to the impressive achievements of past participants who have continued their sailing careers to compete as Collegiate All-Americans, World Champions, Olympians and America's Cup Sailors. This program has been designed to fulfill your child’s interest in sailing and to raise their skills and enthusiasm to propel them to the next level. We have assembled an outstanding team of talented coaches to guide them. The program director and coaches are acclaimed sailors with the accomplishments, capabilities and interest in advancing your child’s sailing abilities.

The primary goals of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club Non-Calm Program are as follow:

  • To provide a fun platform to teach sailing skills and safe sailing practices, from fundamental to expert levels
  • To instill a love of sailing as a lifetime sport and as an arena to forge lifelong friendships
  • To teach young sailors the “Corinthian Spirit” of behavior and how to act with respect for others, their equipment, and the marine environment; including a willingness to help fellow sailors on and off the water.
  • To nurture a sense of self-confidence, self-reliance, seamanship knowledge and an appreciation of team-work through a solid foundation in sailing.
